I was just installing from source xine and (post mortem) I notice the
lines:

/bin/sh ../../mkinstalldirs /usr/local/include/xine
mkdir /usr/local/include
mkdir /usr/local/include/xine
 /usr/bin/install -c -m 644 video_out_x11.h
/usr/local/include/xine/video_out_x11.h
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/carlos/xine-lib-0.5.2/src/video_out'
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/carlos/xine-lib-0.5.2/src/video_out'
Making install in dxr3
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/carlos/xine-lib-0.5.2/src/dxr3'
make[3]: Entering directory `/home/carlos/xine-lib-0.5.2/src/dxr3'
/bin/sh ../../mkinstalldirs /usr/local/lib/xine/plugins
/bin/sh ../../mkinstalldirs /usr/local/include

.....

So on and so forth for a while.

Theres now nothing in /usr/local/include except xine - to the best of my
ability it appears it has overwritten the directory (and indeirectly
everything in it)

The files shouldn't have been deleted (reasoning files weren't deleted
only the reference to the base dir)

How do I recover them?

ARGH!

Carl
