As a fan of E-Smith Server & Gateway, I just want to give everyone the
heads-up on the release of version 5. The company has been bought out and
thus gone commercialised, so it's now Mitel, and the product is called SME
Server GPL for the downloadable version and SME ServiceLink for the
commercial package with built-in services for corporate clients...

PlanetMirror has already mirrored it, so us Aussies wont get left out.

Original Message:
SME Server V5 is now available for download
-------------------------------------------

The Network Server Solutions Group of Mitel Networks is pleased to
announce the availability of SME Server V5.

This release includes many package updates, and some new features.

This release is also available as a bundled solution with
network-delivered
services, SME Server V5 with ServiceLink. For more information see
http://www.e-smith.com/solutions/

SME Server V5 Update One
------------------------

Concurrent with the release of SME Server V5 is the availability of
the first update. This update provides fixes for the following
problems reported after the image was released for production:

   - The web server would stop responding after some actions
   - The user password panel failed due to an incorrect URL
   - IMAP folders sorted incorrectly due to billion second rollover
        - This was previously released as a patch for e-smith 4.1.2
	- The patch needs to be re-applied after an upgrade from 4.1.2

We recommend installation of this update on all servers. This update is
installed directly from the server manager using the new "Blades"
interface.

- Install or upgrade your server with the SME Server V5 image
- Access the web manager as described in the manual
- Click on the "Blades" link
- Click on the "Install" link next to the "SMEServer-5.0_Update1" blade
- The software will be automatically downloaded, installed and configured
- Wait until successful installation of the update is reported
- Reselect the "Blades" link to refresh the screen. This will show
that the Update blade is installed, and cannot be uninstalled
- The update is complete - no further actions are required

Technical Note:

If there is a firewall between your SME server and the Internet, you
will need to ensure that it allows outbound connections on TCP port 22.
This is required for blades downloads.
