Sounds likely. Actually, even more likely if Colin had others riding him 
about it.

Colin's still trading today as AmiSoft (http://www.ami.com.au/, was the first 
Fido BBS in the world to operate without a telephone number, maybe caused a 
kerfuffel when AMI wanted a local site), using Linux and liking it, at last 
count (some months ago).
