[plug] UPS's (slightly OT)

Hi guys,
Ive just come into contact with a Datron UPS. Now I am under the
impression that if I yank the power out, the UPS should kick in and
start running from battery powre. Unfortunately this doesnt seem to
happen.
The UPS just dies after about a second. I have left hte UPS to charge
over night. Now my question is:
Does this sound like hte UPS has shat itself? Or that the Battery is dead
or some such thing?

If it doesnt sound dead to you, do you have any ideas?
