Look at Gnumeric, KSpread, SIAG etc. Even if what they do for these is not is 
a separate library yet, it won't be hard to make it so. There are many other 
small spreadhseets around which probably do such things (including one 
called, yay: ss), try a search at http://freshmeat.net/
