Pity there is probably not anything like the Linux Bios 
http://www.acl.lanl.gov/linuxbios/index.html for your laptop (surely it 
would be do-able, just too many variations i suppose). Otherwise you could 
reduce this time with that (i presume, not having used it).
Have you made your BIOS as quick as it can get? Turn off all Auto 
detection, turn on quick memory check - that kind of stuff...
