Does that mean that after some unspecified (at least on this web page) time 
the software will stop working, or does it mean that the window for offering 
feedback is limited?

I'll be beta-ing on Mandrake 8.2 if I do try it. If it works with both RH and 
SuSE I'd be quite startled if it wasn't happy here.
