I was trying to install a package in rh72 and got an message that stated that
several files from the install package conflicts with the file of another
package that is associated with an already installed package. My question is
do I:
1) uninstall the already installed package or
2) use and -U in the rpm command to upgrade, although this has been tried
and it does nothing.
3) force the installation

The package in question si the cups-1.1.4-linux-2.2.14-intel.rpm and the
conflicting files are:
file /usr/bin/cancel from install of cups-1.1.4-1 conflicts with file from
package LPRng-3.7.4-28
file /usr/bin/lp from install of cups-1.1.4-1 conflicts with file from
package LPRng-3.7.4-28
file /usr/bin/lpq from install of cups-1.1.4-1 conflicts with file from
package
LPRng-3.7.4-28
file /usr/bin/lpr from install of cups-1.1.4-1 conflicts with file from
package
LPRng-3.7.4-28
file /usr/bin/lprm from install of cups-1.1.4-1 conflicts with file from
package LPRng-3.7.4-28
file /usr/bin/lpstat from install of cups-1.1.4-1 conflicts with file from
package LPRng-3.7.4-28
file /usr/sbin/lpc from install of cups-1.1.4-1 conflicts with file from
package LPRng-3.7.4-28

I used both rpm -ivh cups.... and rpm -Uvh cups....

TIA

Jon
