Yes. If you absolutely must do it. I'm sure /usr/bin/passwd has some 
facility to do it but you can also "vi /etc/shadow" and simply delete 
the password, leaving :: (ie zero characters in the password field) instead.

Don't do it unless you absolutely have to, mind you.
