Do you not think that using proprietary software locks competitors out of
the service market? That's a far larger and more important market than the
one you are trying to preserve competition in.

I would argue that we should aim for full competition in the service
market, and hence should not consider proprietary software to be an
ethical choice in the software sales market. (assuming we are talking
about government procurement, a la "Software Choice".
