[plug] another virus question!

This virus stuff is topical for me at the moment, just spent an hour
looking at a relatives win95 machine. Getting a lot of virus warnings
from others about emails she never sent. I suspect she is in a lot of
address books and the return is being spoofed (had a look at one and the
header snippet had an aol path in it when the routing should have been
anything but.) Has 3 virus checkers (two recent, one older) and a
portscan shows nothing sus. No odd programs showing as running (if you
believe the dialog!), but I think the machine is clean.

One thing that jars is she normally reads email from iinet webmail, as
each time she reads email from home (OutLook express), there is a sudden
increase over a day or so of the virus warnings from various sources
saying she has been sending infected emails. Is anyone aware of a
mechanism/virus/worm that can cause this, or is it a co-incidence?
