I had also tried using KBear but either the app itself or it's combination with KDE CVS is as unstable as it gets, so I've been using GFTP, which has been doing the job quite nicely.

back to linux for a moment...
what are people using for GUI ftp clients?

Tried Kbear and didnt like it much at all as it runs a separate ident process 
each time you upload/download then doesnt kill it.... mmmm system 
resources...
