[plug] Vncserver problem

I am trying to get vnc to work both ways between a win2K machine and my
redhat 7.3 linux box. I am using WinVNC on the win2K box.
I can bring up the windows desktop on my linux box with no problems, but
cannot connect to the linux box from windows.

I setup vnc on my linux box as follows:

1. I added the line "VNCSERVERS=phil:1" to my /etc/sysconfig/vncservers
file.
2. I ran vncpasswd and set the password.
3. I ran "service vncserver start" and it showed "OK" on the startup.
4. I verified that the Xvnc service was running.
5. I do not see any errors in /var/log/messages.

When I try to connect from WinVNC, using vncviewer to the ip address of the
linux box, it will not connect. It doesn't even ask for a password.
Could it be blocked because of ssh ?
I do block telnet. When I need to run a terminal in the linux box, from the
win2K box, I use a windoze product called 'putty' because it establishes a
ssh connection.
Do I need to do something in /etc/services to open the 5901 port ?

As I said, I can open an ssh terminal session from win2k to linux, but I
would also like to see vnc working just for my own education.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Phil
