Bit off topic,
but onder what the odds are of any councils in
WA being as visionary as this......

The revolution is beginning.

Wireless Broadband pilot in the Queen St
Mall

People around the world are currently
using Wi-Fi to surf the net or check
their email from anywhere that has a
Wi-Fi access point nearby.

Now Brisbane residents and visitors can
check their email or surf the net from
their favourite Queen St Mall location.

Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) access points
have now been set up in the Queen St
Mall. All you need is a laptop and an
802.11b Wi-Fi adapter card and you can be
surfing the Net at high speed without the
hassle of cords and wires, and best of
all, without being stuck inside.

Benefits of Wi-Fi

With Wi-Fi, you can check your email
without having to be near a hard-wired
computer. You can send and receive data
or surf the net from out of the office or
while waiting for a flight at the
airport, at a coffee shop or book store,
while holidaying at a resort or even from
your couch at home!

Businesses are also using it to attract
and retain customers ie: Access points
are being set up in coffee shops and
bookstores.

Community groups are also collaborating
to develop affordable Broadband access
networks.
