I didn't want to get involved in this, but I feel that this is getting
silly.

Who defines who's a "nasty" guy? Is it someone who you don't like, maybe a
political opponent? Hitler was sure who the nasty guys were in Germany
1933-1945. His opinion wasn't shared by too many others. The Turks felt
that Armenians were nasty guys in the early years of the 20th century -
about 2 million of those nasty guys disappeared.

The best advice then is try not to be in a minority - at all - oops Linux
users are a minority. Maybe Bill feels that Linux users are nasty guys for
not supporting the Mighty US Corporation and paying your MS tax.

Seriously, if you lose the rule of law and the end justifies the means, you
are no better than your opponents. Also, practically, it's difficult for
for law enforcement who've had a "holiday" kicking confessions out of
"nasty" people to tell that they now have to work within the rules to deal
with merely "misguided" people. It's opening a HUGE can of worms, and the
only way to get them back is to use a much bigger can.
