Peace, love and Linux of course!

I think everyone writing on this thread should promptly take themselves along
to see "Bowling for Columbine" to get a clearer picture of the underlying
forces at work in American society. Then read "September 11" by Noam Chomsky
for a cold, hard (and well referenced!) analysis of contemporary
international geo-political machinations.
Unfortunately flared tempers are prevailing over cool heads ATM, and people in
the public is being seriously misled (For a look at the top ten most censored
news stories of 2001-2 then
check out http://www.guerrillanews.com/sci-tech/doc696.html). It's a damned
shame that the "us and them", "you're either with us, or against us"
mentality has come to the fore. As the world becomes more polarised, it seems
that both sides of the fence seem to think that defending their own peace and
security involves suppressing the peace and security of the other.
Yet one thing is certain, if events to unravel into a real war (not just a
metaphorical "War on Terrorism" which is much like the "War on Drugs" and
about as successful) everyone on the planet will lose. Even those that didn't
support either side of the fanatical, war-mongering zealots' fence.

peace,
sol
