Yes, yes, yes, I know I should be replying to the last email sent on this
topic but my couple of bytes are best added to this email.

I work with a number of ex telecom techs. Apparently Telstra have large 
problems with condensation in the pit boxes etc. With the weather is fine 
for a long period of time or during rain it is all ok. Warm weather after 
some rain is when the problems arise and condensation forms in the pit 
boxes and similar places. 

Noise on the line can be caused by any number of problems - pretty much 
limited by how much you are prepard to think about it. However this doesn't
really solve your problem.
