Hi David,
Browsing the /proc file system from a web browser on the local machine will
yield more than you want to know :)
dmesg run after bootup will tell you a heap eg. from a Linux boot disk (eg.
For an example of what you can see from /proc, browse the following from a

and what you can see using dmesg, the MBR rescue disk at
