Easy,
 1. lug machine up 3 filghts of stairs
 2. plug all cables in incl. network
 3. boot
 4. pump
 5. make sure that /etc/apt/sources.lidt points at woody
 6. apt-get claen
 7. apt-get update
 8. apt-get dist-upgrade -d
 9. wait
10. apt-get install <blah>, repeat

I honnestly can't say BUT you should be able to get at least your sound card
working and have a crack at the ntfs problems. the upgrade from potato->
woody will take a while so you're encoraged to get the UCC as close to 19:30
as is possible. Obviously we can't really look at your other problms 'till
after the upgrade.

Yours Tony
