[plug] configuring X on my laptop

Hi all,
Thanks for your time. I got X going (at last); I compiled and installed
Xfree4.2, and then ran the command:
X -configure
which creates an XF86Config.new file in /root/
I then copied this to /etc/X11/XF86Config and presto... one working X
system.
