[plug] Old network cards == hell

An issue I had with Compex NE compatibles was that I had to run the DOS
utility to select which of the three ports was used.  I think they were
supposed to auto-select but they never did.  3COM multi-connector cards
seem to auto-select OK (but were $200 instead of about $60).  For this
reason I used to set aside a small (5 MB) partition formatted as a DOS
boot partition so I could set up these cards.  I've grown out of them
now ;-)
