I botched it - forgot to telnet to the server; did chkconfig on my box,
not on the mailserver/gateway.

chkconfig named on the server, gave a series of numbers, 0-6, with ons and
offs.

I could not find an explanation from man named.

What do the numbers and the on/off switches, represent?
