Hi all,
I am having some difficulty getting a network printer to work. I am using
Redhat Linux 7.2. I have been using printtool to try and configure the
printer. However when I try to start the lpd daemon, I get the following
results:
[root at mit243linux init.d]# ./lpd start
Starting lpd: Traceback (innermost last):
File "/usr/sbin/printconf-backend", line 7, in ?
import printconf_backend
File "/usr/share/printconf/util/printconf_backend.py", line 208, in ?
pass
File "/usr/share/printconf/util/printconf_backend.py", line 708, in
rebuild_queues
for dir in map(lambda x: "%s/%s" % (lpd_spool_dir, x),
os.listdir(lpd_spool_dir)):
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory
No Printers Defined [ OK ]
Below is the contents of my /etc/printcap - this was generated using
printtool.
[root at mit243linux init.d]# cat /etc/printcap
# /etc/printcap
#
# DO NOT EDIT! MANUAL CHANGES WILL BE LOST!
# This file is autogenerated by printconf-backend during lpd init.
#
# Hand edited changes can be put in /etc/printcap.local, and will be
included.

Can anyone see what might be wrong here?
thanks heaps
