Hi guys;
                Thanks for your promt answers to my questions. Can`t wait comming home and start implementing...
 As for a closer description of my 'network', the idea is this: Two computers (one Linux, the other one
 Windows)being connected via a crossover cable without a hub. At no stage do I want the Windows box to be connected to the Internet on its own without a firewall, hence the idea of using the Linux machine as a server. Well, that`s the idea. How good idea it is - that is really for others to judge at this stage for I know very little about it.
However, that would be the background of the question I asked yesterday: During the installation process which of the following options do I select:

Web/FTP
Mail/Groupware/News
Database
Firewall/Router
DND/NIS
Network Computer Server

Something else came to my mind: Do I need a server at all for what I am trying to do? Does the 'Workstation" option of Mandrake Linux9.0 provide for a firewall if there is another computer networked to it?
I would not mind to get some enlightenment on that one either.
                                                                                                                        Thanks

                                                                                                                                        Milan Pospisil

P.S . For a reference this is a copy of my e-mail to PLUG from yesterday:

Hi all;
           Could I possibly get an advice how to change the resolution of my monitor (using Mandrake 9.0)? Is there an equivalent of Ms Windows: Start -> Settings ->Control Panel -> Display -> Display properties -> Settings hiding somewhere in the graphic interface system, or is the command line the only answer?(I suppose it might be a good answer if one knows how to use it). So far the only thing I managed to figure out would be to reinstall the whole package, which seems to be a bit cumbersome at best.
Well, speaking of reinstallig - should it come to it for one reason or another and I want to use my Linux
machine as a server for a Ms Windows box hanging out of it, where the Linux machine will be doing most of the work ie. surfing the net, sending and receiving mail, downloading stuff etc. while the Windows box will be used for communications with the unfortunate Microserfs who do not have any other means and thus can not process any data beyond Microsoft platform, which of the following server options do I choose: Web/FTP
                                                        Mail/Groupware/News
                                                        Database
                                                        Firewall/Router
                                                        DNS/NIS
                                                        Network Computer Server
Currently, not knowing what is it all about I have ticked all of them. It works but how much of it is necessary for a dial up modem connection is at this stage beyond me.

                               Thanks for any help.
                                                                                     Regards:
                                                                                                              Milan Pospisil
