[plug] Getting ident2 to work

Hi all,

I am in the process of trying to get ident2 working on my debian testing
server. I want this to provide 'ident' info after some recent irc problems.
Ident2 seems to have installed ok and is started with the command 'ident2
-p 114' (after complaining that 113 was already in use). I have forwarded
the relevant port on my SmoothWall box, but believe I am having problems
with too much security on the server, but am not sure if I am testing it
correctly? One page said to test with 'telnet localhost 113". In my case
port 114, but this gives me -
 > master:/# telnet localhost 114
 > Trying 127.0.0.1...
 > Connected to localhost.
 > Escape character is '^]'.

A carriage return then gives -
 > 0 , 0 : ERROR : INVALID-PORT

And a few seconds later I get -
 > Connection closed by foreign host.

Forwarding the port from my SmoothWall to my machine lets my irc client
send ident details ok, but forwarding to the server achieves nothing.

Any tips that could point me in the direction of what is not working, and
how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

regards,
   Nathan
