Can't help you with the usb details, but if you want to use cups you
shouldn't have lpr installed. It's an either or deal. To fix remove both
lpr and cups, and then re-install cups.
Actually, this assumes that you're running a reasonbly recent version of
cups, say 1.1.12 onwards.
