Actually, George Lucas was right, he was measuring distance. When Solo
said he did the Kessel Run in under (x number) of parsecs, he was saying
that was the shortest distance he'd done it in. If you're not aware, the
planet Kessel was near a collection of black holes, meaning you had to
give a wide berth in order to avoid the event horizon. Solo was boasting
his ship was so fast he could skim along the event horizon cutting his
distance down.

It's amazing how many people claim Lucas is stupid from that line.
