Thankyou Davyd and Brian for your friendly advice,

As for requests :

I'm looking to get started, I've an inclination to one
of the following distros:

1) Slackware (always try the local produce, right?)
2) Suse (I've been told it's big and shiny and has a nice package system)
3) Mandrake (I've been told even I can't muck this one up)

I have bugger all bandwidth available at the mo, so something CD based
is what I'm looking for...

As for the MIT address, I'm afraid I took the standard route,
so all I can do is describe that:

1) Pick something you like to do.
2) Apply.
3) Arrange the tuition fees. (somewhat more painful than HECS, I recall)
4) Drink deeply from the firehose.
5) ???
6) Pass some courses.
7) Do someone shady a favour.
8) Receive MIT email address.

My only tip is don't choose Rockey Science, it really is harder than it looks.

Indy.
