[plug] westnet ADSL problems with Debian

Hi all
Does anybody on list use WestNet's ADSL service with a Debian box?

I'm having some issues, not sure if its debian-specific or what, but
maybe somebody on list can shed some light, because I'm currently quite
stumped.

I'm getting disconnects after semi-random times, in the order of 3 - 14
hours after connect. Log snippets from connect and disconnect (with
debug enabled in pppd) attached.

The key line seems to be
Oct 3 06:40:49 firewall pppoe[5159]: Session terminated -- received
PADT from peer

Seems like WN is killing the connection, but I don't know enough about
PPPoE ADSL to tell. We have wonderful transparent bridging ADSL here at
work - the 'net on an ethernet interface :-)

So, any ideas? Has anybody seen a similar problem? Google and
groups.google.com show me a bunch of similar problem reports but little
useful info on fixing it.
