G'day all,
I got this frustrating problem trying to access some web sites with my
Linux box (Redhat 6.0, kernel 2.2.20 Mozilla1.1, lynx ?.??). I can
access most sites but it seems I can no longer access freshmeat and
slashdot. I thought originally that it was something like a DNS or a
routing problem but the name seems to resolve and i can use lcrzoex to
download the http header i.e. lcrzoex 96 freshmeat.net 80 /

If it try Mozilla to reach the site the throbber throbs and the status
bar says that its sending the request to freshmeat. Other than that it
does nothing. It doesn't even seem to time out; it just sits there
spinning its wheels, so to speak. I have used lcrzoex to try and
download the freshmeat and slashdot index pages but seem to get no
response (more wheel spinning).
Frustratingly enough I can boot into Win95 and it allows me to view
both slashdot and freshmeat but I really don't want to boot into
anything winblown to get my daily fix.
I dimly suspect there may be a problem with ppp and something my isp
has changed at their end within the past couple of months, but I
confess to being quite clueless as to what it might be. For what its
worth ifconfig ppp0 gives:
ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol inet
addr:203.12.166.229 P-t-P:203.12.166.15 Mask:255.255.255.255

TX packets:2232 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0

Does anyone have any suggestions?
A truly bewildered
