GNU tar appears to support incremental backups.  According to 'man tar', -g
will "create/list/extract new GNU-format incremental backup".  If anyone
knows how to actually use this, please enlighten!  Keeping a set of
incremental backups on CDRs appeals to the paranoid in me.
