Ok, the first thing people are going to say is get rid of windows,
unfortunately that isn't an option here. Whats even worse is what I had to
do to my linux box.
I needed w2k on a box fast and it had to be a good box. It also had to be
one of my boxes so my linux box was selected.
Here is the partioning before i started
MBR lilo
hda1 8Mb /boot
hda3 2Gb /
hda5 1.8Gb /home
hdb1 512Mb /win (win98)
It is now like this
MBR W2k
hda1 8Mb Windows 2000 boot
hda3 2Gb /
hda5 1.8Gb Windows 2000
hdb1 512Mb /home
I started the install after moving my /home partion and testing that it
worked. I then deleted the old home partion and created the windows 2000
partion on hda5. It was then i was told it need the 8Mb boot partion as
well. By this stage it had wrecked my MBR so I booted into Knoppix and
moved ha1 /boot to hda3 /boot, (put it on the / filesystem)
Then I installed w2k
I now need to work out a way to dual boot it. I have done this before with
W2k and Linux (Debian) but I installed w2k first. This wasn't an option
this time.
I don't want to install Debian again.
Here are some thoughts i had
* boot with a Knoppix CD and possibly install lilo from there
* Use Windows boot loader
* reinstall deb
Any suggestions that aren't "remove windows" would be appreciated, i would
probably like lilo back as i know that it can boot w2k.
Thanks
Tim
