Interesting that you found netatalk to work well.... I'm sure having
problems.
"apt-get install netatalk" was the install ; setup was fairly simple or
so it seemed. Perhaps I've missed something important.
I'm getting errors from photoshop whenever I open a file on a netatalk
volume, saying that the file appears to be incomplete or truncated.
Quark just crashes regularly when working off a netatalk volume. The
basic MacOS file sharing works alright, but I'm finding that many apps,
esp newer ones, barf when working off netatalk.
Terrifyingly, NT4's appletalk file sharing has been working better for
me so far.
Have you run into these problems with photoshop? If so, have you managed
to fix / work around them? I can just copy files to the local machine
and work on them there, but that is not an option if netatalk is to
drive the main file server. (Quite frankly, the users here are too
[insert nastiness here] to remember to copy them back on when they
finish; plus its slow and inconvenient.)
