[plug] USB modem

Hi Pluggers.

I have a friend who wants run linux on his machine, and requires it to be
able to use his USB modem. Unfortunately he is unable to set it up, and has
gone back to windows for the time being.

I was wondering if any of you could provide any tips/pointers for setting up
this modem. He was using RedHat 7.1, but can probably change distribution if
recommended.
