Hrrm... while I was in new zealand recently I was getting 49.5 kbps 
connections from my mother's house - about 50km from the exchange in the 
middle of the countryside. Seems we have another thing to beat Telstra 
up about - I get 45kbps on a really, really good day at home and often 33.6.
