The native operating system ran on the notebook is Debian and this software
sits kind of like a conduit between Debian and an instance of VMWare (quoted
as running a Windows XP image), assumedly allowing the user to transparently
use VMWare as if it is the physical machine.
The virtual disk used by VMWare is encrypted (OpenPGP?) and assumedly uses the
standard passphrase method to encrypt any data before it is written to the
virtual disk and it is all decrypted by entering your passphrase upon booting
the viirtual machine.
It seems a round about way to go about it, but interesting that they are using
Linux to secure Win XP, although they fail to mention that Direct3D and
DirectSound stuff won'tl work with it (due to limitations with VMWare).

On an unrelated note news.google.com seems like a much better way to keep up
to date on linux related happenings than visiting the usual news sites
individually/
