I don't really know what to say now .. my knowledge of sendmail extends
to getting it working for me :)

I can comment that your .mc file is wildly inflated compared to mine,
granted I am running a completely minimal config to on the box in
question, and it is on Debian and mau have extra things natively
compiled into it? ... All I have in mine is:

define(`_USE_ETC_MAIL_')dnl
include(`/usr/share/sendmail/cf/m4/cf.m4')dnl
VERSIONID(`$Id: sendmail.mc, v 8.12.9-5 2003-07-01 23:39:44 cowboy Exp
$')
OSTYPE(`debian')dnl
DOMAIN(`debian-mta')dnl
LOCAL_CONFIG
FEATURE(`nullclient', my.smarthost.com)dnl

On my main gateway I have a bit more:

define(`_USE_ETC_MAIL_')dnl
include(`/usr/share/sendmail/cf/m4/cf.m4')dnl
VERSIONID(`$Id: sendmail.mc, v 8.12.6-7 2002-10-18 13:16:10 cowboy Exp
$')
OSTYPE(`debian')dnl
DOMAIN(`debian-mta')dnl
LOCAL_CONFIG
FEATURE(`use_cw_file')dnl
FEATURE(`use_ct_file')dnl
FEATURE(`mailertable')dnl
FEATURE(`virtusertable')dnl
VIRTUSER_DOMAIN(`some.domain.com')dnl
FEATURE(`virtuser_entire_domain')dnl
FEATURE(`access_db')dnl
FEATURE(`domaintable')dnl
FEATURE(`stickyhost')dnl
FEATURE(`genericstable')dnl
FEATURE(`smrsh')dnl
include(`/etc/mail/starttls.m4')dnl
include(`/etc/mail/dialup.m4')dnl
include(`/etc/mail/provider.m4')dnl
MAILER_DEFINITIONS
MAILER(local)dnl
MAILER(smtp)dnl

*squint*

Maybe someone with better eyes can spot some differences which may help.
