True! (I think it's derived from the Latin *noun* "res".) However, there
is a "jargonistic" meaning to "Re:" when it is used in e-mail. Despite
the fact that "Re." in e-mail is supposed to stand for the same thing as
"Re." in paper correspondence, it is actually used as though it is short
for "Reply".
