[plug] A weird PHP MySQL issue

Hi All,
Got a server that has Apache, PHP and php-mysql installed.
[root at ben data]# rpm -qa|grep MySQL
MySQL-server-4.0.14-0
perl-DBD-MySQL-2.1021-3
MySQL-devel-4.0.14-0
MySQL-client-4.0.14-0
MySQL-shared-compat-4.0.14-0

[root at ben data]# rpm -qa|grep httpd
httpd-2.0.40-21.3
httpd-manual-2.0.40-21

[root at ben data]# rpm -qa|grep mysql
php-mysql-4.2.2-8.0.7

Yet the phpinfo script reports:

---PHPINFO OUTPUT---
Client API version 3.23.57 
MYSQL_MODULE_TYPE external 
---END---

Unless my eyes are alluding me there seems to be a difference between these 
versions.
Anyone know what causes this

Oh yeah i should mention that this causes no issues except a bit of 
confusion and scratching of heads!
