[plug] Wireless Internet access in Perth CBD?

Yeah I have been pondering over a solution as well -- the $$$ a problem for
a broadband connection. Surely a local firm would be willing to pay $80 a
month for a 512/256 ADSL. Or a local provider even. Put a little plaque on
the wall saying what a great community focussed company they are > blah
blah. You could hook a wireless Router to broadcast thru the flow area.
Then you need a donated laptop or hardware of some sort with wireless. Many
ppl I now would probably be willing to help out.
Then you need a donated laptop or hardware of some sort with wireless. I
know some folks who have had their daughter in and out of that ward for a
few years now so I can understand the hygiene factor and the
"political/beauracratic" barriers as well.
I am going to mention this to a friend of mine who is associated with a
large Real Estate group -- maybe he can run it past their marketing mob for
discussion.
I know this will be one of those longer term type solution but considering
the location this would have to be thought through with the help of all the
hospital folk too.
Lets get the ball rollin hey.

Couldn't this be done with a wired network? The only cost problem then is
the cost of net access. But if you can't get the net access happening
wireless or not it may still be an idea to get some old computers in that
can play games of some sort. Card games?
