[plug] Debian internet connection

Hi All

Firstly, thanks to those who gave advice about getting NVIDIA cards going.
Now my card is now going and....whoooooooooshhhh...that penguin really flies
down those mountains ...! I'll mention how this was achieved later.

Just now, when I try to connect to the net, I get these messages saying that
the remote server needs to be validated and the secret password cannot be
found and I get no connection. From a book I have dealing with another
distro it appears that some line somewhere is requiring this other password
so I have to comment this line out.

Which line should I comment out in which file? I've seen a line in
/etc/ppp/options (and there's another option file somewhere, but I am not
sure if it is the problem line.

I tried the KDE pppd thingy and also the Debian pppconfig thingy then used
pon <provider> to check.

I am now using Debian unstable (the latest as of last Monday)
