Maybe its just like you can't buy a basic serial card, or floppy
controller anymore. There is no market for them, because perfectly good
ones are integrated into the motherboard. Cheaper, easier, more reliable.

If not for the games, there might be very few graphics cards left at all,
and those very expensive.
