Indeed. Maxtor (at least newer maxtor) drives can also do this. Another 
reason to avoid WD I guess.

BTW, I've had drives fail due to heat, and can confirm that it is a real 
issue. All my systems now have drive cages with fans in front, and it 
makes a world of difference.
