It would suck a lot less if it worked as 'crop, JPEG encode and save 
with lower pixel dimensions,' not 'crop, pointlessly scale up, JPEG 
encode, and save to little benefit'.

I suspect some cameras may support a crop-before-save function, but 
that's really how "digital zoom" should work too.
