Hi all

Has anyone had issued with this?

Samba PDC - latest stable version available (under debian woody).
Workstations - 5 XPs, 1 win98, 1 win95.

All XP machines are fine. The windows 95 machines has only be setup for
about 4 days now but fine so far. Windows 98 however, it seems after some
roughly random period of time, say about 1 week or less, it suddenly dies.

I'll define dies:

Normally, it works fine, ie logs on to the domain, runs logon script, logs
off, all drives there etc etc. The somehow it just stops working. It always
sees the server and gets an IP address so physical connectivity and layer 2
is fine. pings etc. However the samba server refuses to allow it to map
drives. On the server samba log I think i had a "GetHostByName" failure. The
samba server is the wins server, is the only server there in fact. Any
ideas? And the thing is that no reboot, shutdown or anything on behalf of
the client seems to solve the issue. The server was then rebooted and the
issue was solved. I'd like to give you more info however i cant because the
people I installed the server for dont even have a permanent dial up
connection and even while it is connected, tyheir isp firewalls all
incoming. It would have been nice for me to be there when something like
this happened but they dont want to pay for an internet connection - making
it very difficult.

Anyway, has anyone any ideas?

thanks in advance

Nima
