Its a "Personal Desktop" installation type install of Red Hat 8.0.

These seem to be the parts of XF86Config related to the monitor and
video card:

Section "Monitor"
        Identifier "Monitor0"
        VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
        ModelName "P90f"
        HorizSync 30.0 - 110.0
        VertRefresh 50.0 - 180.0
        Option "dpms"
EndSection

Section "Device"
        # no known options
        #BusID
        Identifier "ATI Radeon 9700"
        Driver "vesa"
        VendorName "ATI Radeon 9700"
        BoardName "ATI Radeon 9700"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Screen0"
        Device "ATI Radeon 9700"
        Monitor "Monitor0"
        DefaultDepth 24
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 24
                Modes "1600x1200" "1400x1050" "1280x1024" "1280x960"
"1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
EndSection

Like I said, total desktop Linux newbie, so its safe to assume
everything is default settings :)
