Subject: FW: .NET COP

Hi Everyone,

I just thought I would send you a little bit more information with regards
to this .NET COP, just in case you are not aware.....

The speaker, Rhys Weatherley is actually a presenter at the LINUX
conference which is on here in Perth next week. He has come over from the
east coast especially for the LINUX conference and we have been lucky
enough to get him to present the .NET / LINUX directions during our next
meeting.

We have therefore moved the meeting from tonight (the 3rd Wednesday of the
month) to the Tuesday the 21st Jan to accommodate his schedules. I'm sorry
if this put your schedules out, however I am sure that you understand the
importance of being able to secure such a valuable resource for the .NET
COP that we had to make this move.

Please also feel free to bring along any LINUX questions you may have as
Rhys is the right person to talk to. An added bonus is that we may
(hopefully) also get a small insight into how the LINUX conference is going
without having to pay the large entry fee to get into it. :-)

Please let me know if you wish to come along or if you have any questions.
Anyone who is interested in attending this Community of Practice (next
Tuesday the 21st) please either let me know and I can register your
attendance, or send Nick an e-mail at SEAWA with the registration details.
Please feel free to pass this information on to anyone else you feel would
benefit in attending this event. I look forward to seeing you all come
along!

SPEAKER: Rhys Weatherley, Southern Storm Software, Pty Ltd

                  TOPIC: The DotGNU Portable.NET Project

The goal of this project is to build a suite of free software
tools to build and execute .NET applications, including a C#
compiler, assembler, disassembler, and runtime engine. The
initial target platform is GNU/Linux, with other platforms to
          follow in the future.

DotGNU Portable.NET is part of the DotGNU project, built in
accordance with the requirements of the GNU Project and
          FreeDevelopers.

DotGNU Portable.NET is focused on compatibility with the ECMA
specifications for CLI. There are other projects under the DotGNU
meta-project to build other necessary pieces of infrastructure,
and to explore non-CLI approaches to virtual machine
          implementation.
