I've transferred a 2 gb file over SMB to a Samba box. The limit was 2GB
on SMB afaik since the backend was a reiserfs filesystem which has
practically no limit.

My record was a 40gb disk image of the disk of my housemate's mother's
computer. His machine (FAT32) couldn't do it. I think NTFS can but never
tried.
