Have you looked at Knoppix hdinstall?  Pretty sure that's 2.4.20.

And yes, the sarge installer-in-progress looks pretty broken.
Presumably they're intending to fix it some time before releasing,
although knowing Debian's approach to installers there's still a
reasonable chance they won't. :-P
