FYI, it's usually easy to turn off in BIOS (it certainly was in my dual 
Xeon, I needed to turn it off for testing). It can be best to turn off 
hyperthreading for some workloads, at least until 2.6 comes out with 
"hyper-threading aware" SMP support.

That said, it's working well for me since I have quite a high runnable 
process count on the machine.
